Angelina County Jail Roster Overview
The Angelina County Jail Roster is hosted on the county website and is the first official lookup for people in the sheriff-run Angelina County Detention Center. The roster page is free, does not require an account, and displays a current inmate table rather than a standard search form. During the research pass, visible table columns included name, gender, height, weight, eye color, hair color, and a date field that appears to be the confinement or booking date. Each person listed in the table links to a profile under the county domain.
The roster disclaimer matters. Angelina County states that roster information is for informational purposes, may be changed or updated periodically, may contain errors, and may not reflect current information because inmate data changes quickly. The roster should be described as a current jail list, not a historical arrest database and not a conviction record. Sheriff Tom Selman's office operates the jail, and the jail division can be reached through Book-In at 936-639-8724 or the main jail line at 936-634-2724 when a new booking, spelling issue, transfer, or release needs direct verification.
The official roster appears in the county's own jail-roster format at Angelina County Jail Roster.
The screenshot shows why the roster search process is closer to scanning a current jail list than filling out a multi-field search form.
The county roster does not replace every other inmate locator. It is the correct starting point for pretrial detainees, local warrant holds, local sentenced jail inmates, and other people held at the Angelina County Detention Center. It is not the main source for sentenced Texas Department of Criminal Justice prisoners at Diboll Unit or Rufus H. Duncan Geriatric Facility, federal sentenced prisoners, or immigration detainees.
How to Use the Angelina County Inmate Roster
Open the county roster from the jail-roster link on the Angelina County homepage or go directly to the roster URL. Because no county-provided search box, reset button, advanced-search control, or dropdown was observed, the practical search method is to scan the list or use the browser's find command for a last name. Names are formatted last-name first, which helps when comparing people with similar first names.
- Open the official Angelina County jail roster and read the roster disclaimer before relying on a result.
- Use the roster table. If the list is long, use the browser find function for the last name or part of the last name.
- Compare visible fields such as gender, height, weight, eye color, hair color, and the listed date before opening a profile.
- Click the matching row to view the inmate profile and review the profile-level identity, charge, bond, hold, and agency fields.
- Use the profile's victim-notification link if release or transfer alerts are needed.
- If the person is not listed, call Book-In at 936-639-8724, call the jail at 936-634-2724, or use the records request process instead of assuming the person was never booked.
Angelina County Roster Search Fields
The public roster functions as a table of current inmates. The county page did not show a conventional query form during research, so the search-field inventory is really a roster-field inventory. These columns help narrow the right person before opening a detailed profile.

What an Angelina County Inmate Profile Shows
An Angelina County inmate profile provides more detail than the roster table. The sample profile inspected showed front and right-view mugshot image URLs, identity fields, physical descriptors, offense rows, bond details, hold reason, arresting agency, aliases, scars, marks, tattoos, and a link to the Texas IVSS victim-notification system. The profile is still a jail custody record. Charges listed there are booking or custody charges and should not be treated as final convictions.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Mugshot images | Front view and right/profile view image endpoints were present on the county profile. |
| Name | Full name displayed at the top of the profile. |
| Age, race, ethnicity, gender | Basic identity and demographic fields published with the custody profile. |
| Height, weight, eye color, hair color | Physical descriptors used to distinguish people with similar names. |
| Days confined | A label was present; the value may be blank or populated depending on the profile. |
| Victim Notification System | A link to Texas IVSS county notification resources. |
| Offense | Charge or offense description per listed row. |
| Degree | Charge class or degree, such as state jail felony or Class C misdemeanor. |
| Bond Amount | Per-offense bond amount and sometimes a payment or handling note. |
| Hold Reason | Custody reason, such as local warrant or on-view arrest. |
| Arresting Agency | Agency listed for the charge or hold. |
| Known aliases | Alternate names or name variations, when listed. |
| Scars, marks, tattoos | Publicly listed identifying descriptors. |
The sample profile did not show date of birth, booking number, housing unit, scheduled court date, magistrate, warrant number, projected release date, total bond, prior booking history, or direct case-number links. Use court records after a jail arrest for filed charges, hearings, dispositions, non-disclosures, and expunction filings.
Finding County, State, Federal, and Immigration Inmates
Angelina County is easy to confuse because the county has one sheriff-run jail in Lufkin and two state prison units in Diboll. The Angelina County jail roster covers the county detention center. Sentenced state prisoners are searched through the Texas Department of Criminal Justice inmate search, including people held at Diboll Unit or Rufus H. Duncan Geriatric Facility. The TDCJ locator is updated on working days only, and TDCJ states its information is at least 24 hours old.
Federal and immigration custody use separate systems. Use the BOP inmate locator for federal sentenced prisoners, the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern District of Texas for federal pretrial custody context, and the ICE Online Detainee Locator System for immigration detention. A person can disappear from the Angelina roster because of release, bond, transfer, a TDCJ move after sentencing, federal custody, ICE custody, spelling mismatch, update delay, or restricted status.
| Custody | Where to Look | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial or local jail custody | Angelina County jail roster | Current jail table and profile pages for the sheriff-run detention center. |
| Sentenced Texas prisoner | TDCJ inmate search | Use for state custody, including Diboll Unit and Duncan Geriatric Facility. |
| Custody notifications | Texas IVSS or VINELink | Useful for alerts, not a substitute for court records. |
| Federal sentenced prisoner | BOP inmate locator | Does not function as a county booking roster. |
| Immigration detention | ICE ODLS | Search by A-number and country of birth or biographical data. |
Angelina County Jail Facilities and Contacts
The primary local booking facility is the Angelina County Detention Center, also labeled by county pages as Angelina County Jail. The sheriff's office runs that jail. The two Diboll facilities are TDCJ state prisons and should not be used to search for someone newly booked after an Angelina County arrest.

Booking Process in Angelina County
A person arrested by the sheriff, a city police department, a constable, or another agency can be taken to the Angelina County Jail at 2311 E. Lufkin Ave. for local booking. The county jail page says the detention center houses people alleged to have committed offenses from Class C misdemeanors to capital murder. Intake generally creates identity, physical-description, photo, offense, bond, hold, and agency records. The public profile fields support that sequence because they show demographics, front and right mugshots, offense rows, degree, bond amount, hold reason, and arresting agency.
Each inmate is given access to the telephone during booking, and telephones are available in housing areas. Money at booking is placed into the inmate money fund through the book-in kiosk, with previous jail balances possibly debited. Bond amounts may appear per offense, but a $0 line or local-warrant hold does not necessarily mean a person is free to leave. Confirm current bond, holds, and release eligibility through Book-In, the jail, the court with jurisdiction, or an Angelina County licensed bail-bond company.
Visitation Hours and Rules
Angelina County publishes updated jail visitation rules on its visitation page. Visits are first come, first served. Sign-up starts 30 minutes before visitation and ends 30 minutes before the visitation period ends. Each visitor must provide positive state-issued identification, government ID, or a driver's license unless another verifiable form is approved by the jail administrator. Current rules list 30-minute visits, two visits per inmate per week, no more than two visitors in the visitation room at one time, and no contact visits. Visitors under 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
The current jail visitation schedule is posted at Angelina County Jail Visitation.
The schedule separates male and female visitation windows, so visitors should verify the inmate's status and arrive early enough to complete sign-up.
| Day | Male Inmates | Female Inmates |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday | 7:00 PM-10:00 PM | 6:00 PM-7:00 PM |
| Wednesday | 2:00 PM-5:30 PM | 12:30 PM-2:00 PM |
| Thursday | 7:00 PM-10:00 PM | 6:00 PM-7:00 PM |
| Sunday | 8:00 AM-11:00 AM | 1:00 PM-2:30 PM |
How to Contact an Angelina County Inmate
Non-privileged, non-legal mail is routed to a scanning service, not sent directly as original paper to the housing area. Use the format: inmate name, SO number, Angelina County Jail, PO Box 591, Longview, TX 75606. Mail must include the inmate name, SO or booking identifying number, and return address. Only mail within 8.5 inches by 11 inches is accepted, no more than five pages are allowed, and only the front side is scanned. One photo is allowed per mailing; more than one photo can cause the entire mailing to be returned. Legal and medical mail must be sent to the facility where the inmate is housed, not the Longview scanning address.
NCIC is the phone, video, and messaging provider identified by the jail-information page. The jail publishes phone rates for domestic prepaid collect and inmate debit calls, higher per-minute rates for Mexico and international calls, remote off-site video visitation, secure messaging, and attachment charges. Inmates cannot receive incoming personal calls, but voicemail messages to approved inmates may be available through the facility's communication system.
Open Records Requests for Jail Records
If the roster does not show the record needed, use the county's open-records process for existing jail records, booking sheets, booking photographs, arrest reports, or related sheriff records. Angelina County states that public-information requests must seek existing documents or records; the county is not required to create a new document or answer questions. Requests may be submitted by mail, in person, or through the county web portal, and the request should be detailed enough for the department to identify and locate the record.
Angelina County provides open-records instructions at Open Records Request.
Those instructions are the fallback path when a current roster profile is missing, incomplete, or no longer online.
The web form itself is at Angelina County Public Information Request Form.
For jail records, select "Sheriff - Tom Selman" unless the requested record belongs to a court clerk or prosecutor.

No current official Angelina County Sheriff's Office mobile app with roster or warrant lookup was verified on the county site during research. Use the official roster, sheriff contact numbers, jail Book-In line, and open-records portal instead of relying on an unverified app listing.
Commissary and Inmate Funds
Commissary can include food, beverages, stationery, hygiene articles, clothing, shoes, and similar items. The jail rules state that commissary orders must be entered before Tuesday 10:00 AM and are passed out Wednesday. Deposits should be made before Tuesday 8:00 AM for commissary timing. Money at booking goes into the inmate money fund, and money orders are not accepted at the facility under the older jail page. Indigent commissary requests require an inmate request form with name, S.O. number, and "indigent" before Friday 8:00 AM, with account and purchase restrictions.
Note: Confirm custody, housing, and transfer status with the jail before sending money, mailing documents, or planning a visit.
